Power of Music

Exciting new research shows that music has the power to heal. Music therapy is now being used to treat asthma, Alzheimer's disease, depression and other illnesses. Music also helps reduce stress and anxiety. In fact, live music is being used in some oncology waiting rooms as a way to create a calming environment for patients.

I love guitar and enjoy spreading kindness through music. In my free time, I perform fun and uplifting music at senior homes and for veterans and immunocompromised members in my community. To quote Mary Poppins, "A Spoon Full of Sugar" really helps the medicine go down. I am now a junior at Burlingame High School. When I’m not volunteering or learning new songs (I take requests!), I play varsity tennis and enjoy practicing my French and Italian conversation skills. My older sister, Ella Rafferty, joins me when she is in town and sometimes we perform guitar together.
